Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT CAN I BRING?
Campers may bring their own food, water, alcohol, as well as BBQs, but will be encouraged to leave these material by their sites. Alcohol MUST remain at campsites. No fire pits will be allowed.
WHAT CAN'T I BRING?
DO NOT bring weapons of any kind, fireworks, explosives, or drones!
HOW OLD MUST I BE?
All attendees of SD GypsyFest must be over 21 years of age with valid ID. SD GypsyFest is NOT an all ages event.
WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE?
Historically at De Anza Springs, it's been in the upper 90s during the day and 50s at night. Bring loose, light clothing during the day and have plenty of water on hand for the dry desert summer, and warm clothing and sleeping gear for the night time.
FOOD & DRINKS
There will be plenty of food vendors at GypsyFest providing a variety of foods from across the globe, and De Anza Springs Resort will be selling food in the restaurant and opening satellite bars throughout the festival, so there will be plenty to eat and drink!
Due to the remote location of De Anza Springs, credit cards will not be accepted at the festival. SD GypsyFest is cash only.
DRINKING BY THE STAGES
You may only drink alcohol purchased from De Anza Springs by the stages. All other beverages must remain at campsites. Please refrain from bringing any glass or can bottles to the festival.
IS GYPSYFEST A "NUDIST" FESTIVAL?
While De Anza Springs is technically a "clothing optional" resort, we chose the location because of its beautiful scenery and accommodations. That said, we're not encouraging GypsyFest patrons to be naked. Of course, there will likely be some members of the resort that are there and practicing nudists, but we encourage all festival-goers to be respectful. Festival goers may choose to wear desert festival attire. Shoes are also strongly recommended.
RECOMMENDED THINGS TO BRING
We invite all attendees to bring musical instruments, sunscreen, earplugs, snacks, water, towels, etc.
RESORT AMENITIES INCLUDING USE OF POOLS
De Anza Springs Resort offers many amenities such as tennis courts and a gym. There are also two pools, an indoor and outdoor pool, though both are subject to a "no clothing" rule and you must shower before entering.
DE ANZE IS IN THE DESERT
Which means there are SCORPIONS, RATTLESNAKES and other things that can harm you. Please be aware and bring appropriate footwear - there are goatheads (mother nature's stickers/caltrops) and other dangerous things to step on.
CELL PHONE, WIRELESS, WI-FI SERVICE
See "Desert" above -- yes this location has pretty shoddy cell service, and although some carriers work in parts of the festival, we recommend you don't rely on it. De Anza Springs Resort is remote and has very limited cell phone and Wi-Fi service.
TICKETS & ENTRY
Make sure to have your tickets and/or cash upon entering the festival as the festival is CASH ONLY.
There is an immigration/agricultural checkpoint on the way back into San Diego. Traffic may be backed up due to officers checking vehicles on the routes back west.
